The Heat and The Hunger

- The Heat and The Hunger -
A Song about Passionate Longing

I can feel the magic in the beauty of your face…
I can see the sorrow amidst your wonderful grace.
In the midsummer heat, there’s a hotter breeze…
It blows lonely hearts together out of scattered leaves.
Look at the sun as it rises: new hope for the land!
Can you look in my eyes; can you touch my hand?
I am as real as the rays coming down from above…
Take a look in my eyes, and just feel the love!

Let your hungry heart be sated by passion,
Let me show you the height of lovers’ fashion!
Remember to call my name in the night…
I’m always waiting in the darkness, to bring you light!

I can hear you calling for someone in the dark…
I can understand you need me, and so now I hark.
When it’s hard to sleep, think of me being there…
Running my fingers softly, through your beautiful hair.
Take a walk me with in the rain: let it pour down!
There’s nothing a little rain can do, in this town…
The heat from your hand in mine can warm us well.
Take a look at my heart; let your passion swell!

Let your hungry eyes be pleased at mine,
Let me show you the glory beyond all of time!
Remember to call my name in the night…
I’m always waiting in the darkness, to bring you light!

I can sense you waiting for old wounds to heal…
I can sooth them all, if you’ll allow yourself to feel.
Is it time to wake up? Hold on just a bit longer…
Don’t let this dream stop! Let me ease your hunger.
Have I seen you in my dreams, are you the one?
Why not meet me there, so that we can have fun!
I am as real as your dreams; let them come true…
Take a look at my face, and my eyes so blue!

Let your hungry soul be contented at last,
Let go of all your pain, and be free from the past!
Remember to call my name in the night…
I’m always waiting in the darkness, to bring you light!

About this poem:
A song I wrote to try and express how deeply I long for true love. In the song, I am speaking to my soulmate and pouring my heart to her.
