Reflections

If you could turn back the page,
we could go back to when we first met.
Take away all of the pain and the rage,
and make happiness something I could get.
If oxygen were lies, we could breathe for years.
Bottle it and sell it, but you will still choke on the tears.
If false promises were medicine, we could heal anything.
Cover it with a bandage, but still feel pains' sting.
If doubts were time, we could live forever.
Living life within every regret and being safe next to never.
But all we have is the here and now, as I sit in this hell.
Thinking about the past and when, for you, I first fell.
There are not enough words in any book to apologize for your pain,
or to take back the times I wasn't there and your tears fell like rain.
There are not enough roses in the world to replace the beauty of your smile.
It's held me prisoner for years, and not just a little while.
I may not be able to take it back,
but I would be a fool to give up the heart we share.
A tragedy to derail our train from the track,
or act like I don't care.
I know what completes me, and that is you.
I would give anything to hold your hand in this hell that I walk through.
Being where I am, you are all that I miss,
and I need you by my side to help me through this.

About this poem:
Received this in the mail today, along with 2 other poems from someone who means a great deal to me. He's battling his demons and becoming human once more, ready to accept love. So I felt like sharing his poetry, to see what others think of his feelings for me. We have a wonderful, yet painful past together.

hard to comment for me. pages do not turn back but the future is what we make it. healthy relations are based in trust I believe. It often takes the hardest blows and is the hardest to regrow. maybe others will know more or see deeper.....ELO dunno
