A girl holds a balloon rising up A country took the liberty of a man, but he did not crumble Great nations rise in pride before they go People strut and pout with knowledge of nothing I see in my head that it is almost done, but you think the tap with running water will always run Ask a starving baby what he/she sees All the roses in the garden will suddenly fade People at leisure and idle chats Violent chaos unfolds and spreads Peace held together by the pounding of guns Is there any use in swinging an axe to dice an onion? Is wisdom with words harder to hear? What is the truth that has happened here? We follow the path of former ways Normalize madness and heretical words A child baptized by fire and tossed around in the world We cling to the thorns of awkward lives We writhe in the insanity while blocking it out Death shows his face, but doesn't beckon our souls Violence had erupted after something imploded and then the sheep of the land who blindly feed glimpse the hideousness of the life on which they graze A singer she sang of some of these things with a smoky soul voice from hard soul living and now she is dead some may weep Some may still graze on the foulest of things Death preaches to the living

Excellent poem. Such a sad loss of a very talented young girl.

Thank you Odette, she was a beam of light on the stage, but had no light in her personal life....
