To be denied freedom of expression can be every bit as soul destroying as being behind bars, which is why no writer should ever be denied the chance to tell the truth (as he/she sees it).
Writers, including poets, have been a bulwark against tyranny for thousands of years, and countless numbers have perished for their beliefs.
