Rebirth Hurts

Your rebirth is immersed in a pain so loud no one but you and I can hear your screams
Everyone else numbly walks by you, living their lives never asking that one question nagging them
Half the time, your blind agony keeps me from getting too close.
Maybe I'm the problem
At other times, I am the only one who truly understands who you are metamorphasizing into
Maybe I'm part of your re-creation

Holding onto what little air is left for your tears to dry
We set fire to all of that pain
That rage
Letting it all melt away to nothing like prophetic candles

The peeling away of old flesh taking with it that lump of something undefined that stays
Leaving nothing but the self inflicted scars to remind you, that yes,

Rebirth hurts

About this poem:
written just now 11-8-11 for Jessie, my bf who is going through a lot right now, finally letting go of the pain and anger of his youth and living, once again
