PERFECT SETTING
Author: Unknown
As the sun nestles into the horizon
like a glowing ember,
it shows an amber hue,
and I remember you.
Like the reflections that glimmer
of the sun as it simmers on the sea,
I see you dance . . .
aloft . . . aloof . . .
Alone.
Elusive romance often hides
like darting rays behind disguise.
Even clouds can’t shroud your eyes
of the sparkle I detect.
Our hearts are circumspect.
Hark! A twinkle is reflected
in the waves that wake . . . for shore.
So we wait . . . and dream of more
horizons to explore.
Holding hands on endless strands
of sand that sifts through time...
To tock along the beach we walk,
mellowing like wine.
Each brilliant son* serenely sets
It’s best we let it rest . . .
Testing then our faith within
that our star will rise again.

About this poem:
* I composed this for a romantic interest, the mother of 3 delightfully intelligent sons, who at the time we met were understandably still very much devoted to their father, and thereby torn by the notion that their mother's interest had shifted towards me, despite our first glances & union occuring AFTER the finality of their parents' divorce. Too fresh to them, at my behest, we waited eons apart, to rekindle a romance, this poetry manifesting my sentiments for her.
