Detached

Lake's hunger for love resounded with stentorian cry.
A faint memory in a bleak light.

Dear wind that threatens the troubled, do not venture to blow me away.
I tell you, that's my order - But
Have I any powers over thy frivolous will?

Grey waves smite the coastline
With music that so ruthlessly pierces thy ears.
Its outrageous roar makes me question
The verity I believed in, believed in yesterday.

And as one foot drags behind the other,
They collide while their pearl tears gather between the solid rocks.
For my heart is buried under these rocks and pebbles
Under the sand of these fathomless waters,
Deep in the Hungry Lake.
