Not So High

I'm not so high as you would need me to be
up there beyond the realm of human imperfection
I come down easily, eye to eye, so you can see
that I too have my fears and seek protection

I'm not so high that I should need to fly
up there beyond the realm of human stars
I see the flash, the glitter, the gold, the lie
up there beyond the realm of human stars

I'm not so high that I should know what you know not
for I know not what you have lived
I read my world, for it's all I've got
and I know not what you have lived

I'm not so high that I can't come down
to show the mask of my darkened shadow
you see me laugh, then you'll see me frown
as I show the mask of my darkened shadow

I'm not so high that I can not fail
and fall to pieces of shattered dreams
I've lived my story, I've told my tale
of broken pieces of shattered dreams
