my best friend

My Best Friend

Sitting here now it feels like just yesterday

I was sitting here with you and your crew, listening to you say,

"She's my best friend,

There at the beginning, she'll be there at the end.

Always right here, always next to me

Where I want, where I need her to be."

How do you forget your best friend?

I was there at the beginning, what happened in the end?

You were never here, never next to me....

Where I wanted, where I needed you to be.

We used to sing along

With the car radio to every song

Even though we sounded awful we had fun!

Way back... when our love had just begun.

I still feel it, I swear I do

In my heart, it aches, don't you?

Like a movie I could see it all

The 2 of us-- growing old, our kids-- growing tall

The house, the life, the troubles we'd share...

What we deserved, only what's fair!

Best friends forever

and always together...

What happened to us?

I loved you SO much...

Over and over in my mind

I find

Myself stuck on a question

Why did you tell me this love was destined?

To last forever....

and ever...

How can I get through

Getting over you?

My heart, my soul, my best friend

If only I could hear you say forever and ever again.
