What do you see when you look at me,
What is written on my face.
Does it portray my life or my past,
My hardships or my failings.
Does it show where I am,
Where I’ve been ,or what I’ve done.
Does it show the loneliness of my soul,
The agony of my existence, alone.
Does it show the joy in my heart
Just waiting to erupt, if allowed.
Does it show the love within,
The depth of which, scares me.
A love, so deep I cannot show
Because I struggle to understand it myself.
A love, hard learned over a life time,
Cost a life time, cost a life.
Does it show the fear within,
A hidden fear, rejection, misunderstanding.
What feeling within even my own blood,
Am I of your blood, or have you too disowned me
I cannot look at you , afraid what you may see
So, just what do you see when you look at me
Is my face a mirror of my life
Do you see all this, and more,
Or do you see me at all
Do you look at me, or just through me.
