The worlds gone mad

The world has gone mad
Everyone wants more not happy with what they have
It seems more stuff is the common goal
More stuff isn't how I personally want to roll
I don't need to prove my self
By collecting stuff to show off my wealth
Im going to feel and experience lifes gifts
For which many, you don't need to be rich
Life only comes once around
I  wish not to waste it collecting more stuff to fill my surrounds
To make others smile and feel happy
Rather than stressed out and crappy
I'm happy to be much more free
This is how life should be
To surround myself with smiling faces
If I have this in my hand I hold the aces
To take time to see the beauty, wonder and marvel at the world
It's this I wish in my palm to be held
To laugh as much as possible
Not work till I put myself in hospital
I believe we must work
To live not live to work
If I'm wrong and this is what we call society
I hope it can do without me
As I plan to really live life and take it in
I don't see this as a sin
So I have a house two cars and already to much stuff
It may be time to say I have enough
The more stuff you have the more you lose your ability to be free
I'm sure some would disagree
It's not the way to gain happiness
If I sold it all I couldn't care less
I want to never look back and say
I wish I'd done that but it's to late
Stay up late and laugh till the sun rises
Go out and dance and fill your life with surprises
Spend time with family and the ones you love the most
Have a party be the host
Travel and see the worlds at your feet
Don't sit in front of the tv in your seat
Take on your fears and try new things
Have an adventure laugh and sing
So to wind up this little rhyme
Go out there and don't waste time
As life's to short to work it away
That is all I have to say
Cheers to you all Beachy

Hi, Beachnit,
Although I share the motto work To live not live to work, I find the demands of work often try to stake a claim on more of life. It's a challenge to keep a healthy balance and still manage to pay the essential bills. Thanks for sharing and reminding us to consider what's truly important in life.

Hi Gn an yeh agreed a healthy balance is important none of us can avoid work altogether the poem is really not about that though its more about the way people get obsessed with getting more and more things (stuff) as if thats going to make them happy. Happiness comes from a different place and belongings ae not responsible in my oppinion. Its also a reminder of what lifes true imoptant things are. I myself have been obsessed by these things in the past Ive been very career driven and a little obsessive at times about collecting the latest and greatest things. It really took a near death experience for me to really think about life and I realised these things are far from important to me at the end of my life I cant take all my things with me but I want to feel fulfilled and leave a smile on peoples faces when they think of me. anyway sorry im babbeling now but thanks alot for your comment. wine
