the soul who suffers long

these blackest days, these darkest nights
oh the wicked frozen cold
my darkening eyes adjust to view in the absence of the light
with broken hands i grasp the wind, but nothings there to hold
despite my might and wit and skill
as marooned ive missed the tide
I wait and pray and search dismayed
to find a place to hide
and in this deep canyon of shadows and night
i'll dream of you until im gone
i'll dig beneath the abyss in my soul and bring you up a song
I'll sing it low, and sweet, and loud, for the soul who suffers long

Lady Morgana, thank you! I hate your screen name, but I am glad you enjoyed the poem. I read one of your latest as well and I can relate to the loss of your friend. My love died in 2001 of melanoma. We lived in the south and she was fair. I too took about 6 years to recover, alcohol poisoning on valentines day for about 5 years after she passed, but I finaly healed, thanks be to GOD.
cherry reggae, I love your screen name, thank you.. where is the love to be found, in this here CONCRET JUNGLE!

Hi Dave wonderful poem heart wings

Dave - Your poetry is lovely, You've had dark times then darker times and now you see a light, the light of your future that seems somehow manageable now.
That's a good way to begin a new future, it wasn't the one you planned but it's the one you see now. I don't think god saved you though, I think you saved yourself. If you give yourself credit for saving yourself, you will trust yourself to step into your new and present future.

Good luck in your new future and may it stay bright and welcoming.

Ladybee, it is a halibut, one of the most delicious and expensive fish caught in the northwest pacific ocean. I also fished in iceland and norway and my favorite fish is icelandic cod (thorska).. I used to say i would come to ireland by way of the sea, and avoid the domesticated bustle that people think of when they vacation, it is by every right a holy island, the heart of the planet.

No sun will shine in my day to day
The high yellow moon, won't come
Out to play...I said.
Darkness has come, in my light
& upstaged my day, into night.
Where is the love to be found?
Someone tell me cause, life sweet life,
Must be somewhere to be found, instead
Of concrete jungle!!!

Dave we have to pick ourselves off the ground!!!!hug bouquet angel gift heart beating heart wings

Cherry Reggae, this song is my favorite piece and a great comfort to me. "sweet life must be somewhere to be found" currently the video is on youtube and my favorite one is the alleged bob marley and peter tosh together. I dont know if it is tosh but one upload says it is. He sings my favorite part, the high pitched, "SWEEt life.." i am a manly straight guy but i love to sing that high pitched piece with them, it has a ring of hope as does much reggae, which i consider to be gospel and in the same spirit as Christ.. yes I, yes Christ!

Wow!! That's beautiful, Dave & I can agree with what you said totally about reggae There's a consciousness that touches people through reggae, its universal, soulful, uplifting & no doubt spiritual!!!
Thanks for sharing that with me, I will check them out on.utube. was trying to figure that out 2...
I love that song concrete jungle!! The words ring so much truth & are deeply felt.
Honestly bob had so many songs I love, hard to pick just 1. I'd say my top 3 are war, redemption song, natural mystic, no woman no cry lol that's more than 3 ha ha :) much more than that I could keep going. I also loved peter tosh, I wonder what he could have been...thanks for your response, it made my day!!! Thankyouhug peace handshake bouquet

Cherry Reggae, I loved tosh, he got popped for boldly speaking about the corruption of the government, a dangerous thing to do. I love much reggae and bob has a slew of good songs, but concrete jungle is the song of now, it speaks to today, for me.. while i trust for my companion, being 33 with no kids, never a single LTR, i only know singleness. That just makes me more primed to appreciate the right one though, and those prayers cannot go unanswered.. God greet you and meet your needs..
poet number 1 thank you, i didnt think it was all that when i wrote it, just kind of scribbled it out in a moment of intense loneliness, but i admit i like it more for yours and others positive comments... cheers
