Prince and Michael Jackson
Both were awesome artists from the best decade in music
The 1980's
Michael started out on top with his Thriller album
Prince came out with Purple Rain
Both have some awesome songs
Prince's When Doves Cry
Michael's Billie Jean
Both were Jehovah Witnesses
I was approached by one on a walk this week
I researched some of their beliefs
They don't celebrate birthdays or holidays like Christmas
They don't vote
I think Michael did celebrate birthdays and give presents
I don't know if Prince did or not
There is no question which was the bigger influence
Michael Jackson
The 80's wouldn't have been the same without them

I have both albums on record. I would say I listened to Thiller more than Purple Rain. I have a hard time picking which songs I liked better. I did like Beat It, Billie Jean, PYT, Wanna Be Startin Something, The Girl Is Mine, and Thriller. I liked When Doves Cry, I Would Die 4 U, Baby I'm A Star, Purple Rain, Let's Go Crazy, Take Me With U, and Darling Nikki off of Prince's Purple Rain album.

I love both albums but I have to say prince is a lyrical prodigy as he writes also produces his own music...and didn't get the credit as he deserves...prince has written songs for a slew of ppl in the music industry...he also composes his own music as well as for other musicians I love the album purple rain...I love mj to he was a child prodigy and with that comes a lot of heart ache and troubles..but as an artist he was definetly the king of pop in performance and changing the videos to what they are now:).

Michael was a favorite in my family we have all his albums and some of Prince too.You love music.I loved the way Michael danced someone that enthralled us was taken too soon.Thanks for all that you share.

cherryreggae, thanks for the comment. I actually had to get my Prince album to get the color right and the songs. The Michael Jackson album I knew every song and their order.

paloma66, thanks for your comment. I think being the best of the best takes it's toll. He couldn't sleep because he so wanted to give us his majic, and majic takes a lot of work and alot of worry. When I saw Michael in his docomentary all I could think of is please eat a sandwich. He did treat himself once a week to fried chicken, but other than that it was a lot of vegetables and fruit. The guy was as tall as me and only wieghed around 120.

I liked M.J. for his graphics in his songs as well as the songs...Prince was a true artest and his songs depicted his life experiences and where full of depth. thanks mc.

cameal6, thanks for your comment. I remember Michael Jackson at the 1984 Grammy Awards and just being in awe of him. He not only did well for himself, but brought back a music industry with the excitement he brought to music. If you listen to the music before Thriller and after Thriller, there is a huge increase in awesome song.

SUMMIT09, thanks for your comment. The whole zombie movement that Thriller had is alive and well today. Zombie TV shows, zombie stuff in Spencer's Gifts, and zombie targets at Walmart. I agree that Thriller was the best. I don't know what the count is on sales of that album, 50 million last time I checked.

i missed this and now with Prince death
Its an empty music industry with many late deaths
MJ is my Fav .. i believed in him as innocent
You cant lie in your songs
Many stil believed he is clean
His music died after Bad album i feel
Only the secret of his VAULT holds many songs untold
I feared for his kids
