Stargazing the Neon Lights

Neon lights gleam as the green fireflies soar, dance
Amid the brimstone butterflies that chase me over the rainbow
To the very dream that one hoped to save
A million pieces that cast one to shame as my soul remains
Broken from the darkness of abuse, purging my emotions
Into the moonless night where the stars seem to only glimmer
Like English tears that fall along the cheekbone of a girl
As she sees more than most and understands the presence
Of an old soul, wherein the hope lays a flickering ember of
Warmth as it replaces the chill within my heart
As I sit back, relax, watching the skies shine with stars
And as the starlight wink back at me, I remember
That love remains solid when your heart is connected
With mine
