Ten Years Down the Line

The saddest of all days
is when a friend leaves
you know they have to
that its time for them
to spread their wing
and try things anew
you know for a while
they will keep in touch
but as the months pass
so does the contact lessen
its not meant that way
just life moving on
new things to do and see
new friends to share
the silly things with
leaving you thinking
ten years down the line
whatever happened
we were such friends

C'est la vie... It's simply the way of things Linda - I could think of a dozen clichés, none of which really bring any comfort to the reader/listener.

Maybe the most truthful cliché of all is that life really does go on, and it's a lesson we little option but to learn.

Hi Shadow,

I can certainly identify with your thoughts here but what I have found is that perchance if you ever do meet up again with true friends, it's like you've never been away. wine
