Wide Awake

I stare with my eyes wide open, I can not sleep
Thinking of a girl I've only just met
But already I share your pain, pain which I also once had
Even though I see no scars on you, I know your wounds are deep
I want to help you, but I get pushed away
Don't you trust me? Don't you want me to stay?
Are you that scared of being hurt?
Don't be, that's not what I want or wish for, you have my word
I'm just here to help and care
But you are simply not there

Some find you quiet and mystique
but they don't see what I see
or don't let you fully be
I see a girl, pure and unique
Since I not only see a beauty on the outside
but also on the inside
And that part of yourself you shouldn't need to hide
You shouldn't need to hide
I know you've been hurt before
and that you not seek for more
But don't forget there are some who care
about you, even if you are not there

I know the past can't be undone
nor can it be erased
learn from it or you'll be forever chased
and remember that also good things still can come
Smile and be happy like you were before
if not, I'll just have to write you some more...
