Ahoy listen to the sounds of bird song the screaming of the gulls way out to sea let your mind drift to distant times and long for freer times when you were a gypsy
Now bound by love you left the road behind no longer travelling by caravan your life now is not free but confined you sit hoping waiting for the mailman
A fiery wanton beauty you once were now ground down by life a drab you become remembering past times as past they blur to their memories you have now succumb
Wanton gypsy dance with me by firelight pleasure me as we dally in moonlight
Your poem reminded me of a song I used to sing when I was a little girl. thank you for the poem... and memories. Just loved reading, Gypsy Thank you for sharing

Hi, shadow1950, Now bound by love you left the road behind...you sit hoping waiting for the mailman... Guess it will take love returned to set the gypsy free. Nice to, once again, see you in Poet's Corner. Thanks for sharing.
A very beautiful sonnet Linda. Your poem reminds me of a very beautiful girl I went to college with...born and raised by gypsy parents in her early years...later brought up by a single mother...also a lovely lady. One of the most beautiful girls I've ever seen...she ended up in New Zealand and met her handsome prince...she no longer travel in caravans but instead enjoys her freedom flying in open skies with her pilot husband....

A classic sonnet, expressing those exotic moments of the past. Nicely conceived.
