S.O.C.

There's so much in this world I don't understand,
When all I wanted was to hold your hand.
Be with you above all others,
Slip in beside you under the covers,
Live a life that I could be proud of,
Say goodbye to this lost world without love,
Take a stand and make my place,
Be a good part of the human race.
But then I take a hard look at me,
See that I can't be what you need me to be,
Dreaming, wishing, it could be different,
But left here standing holding this remnant,
Of things that never were and never will,
And today I stand here still.
Looking up from the remnant and thinking,
Wondering what happened and slowly sinking,
Into the mire with a broken spirit.
Something shattered, Did you hear it?
In a letter, written, folded, sealed,
Maybe my shattered something can heal.
Done all I can to make love true,
Guess all the rest is up to you.

About this poem:
Un-requited love.... gotta love the shear gut wrenching pain of it all... :)
