Thirsty sorrow

Cracking open another can
I hear the hiss from inside
The excitement that the drink holds
Knowing where it is going

Tasting the sweetness
That lies within
Gulping a mouth full
Then another
I feel it deep within

No thirst do I really have
But sorrow deep inside
I drink not for the taste
Not even for the thirst
Simply for the numbness
Suppressing all my thoughts

How many cans
Shall it take
To quench this
Thirsty sorrow

About this poem:
I wrote this poem, not being a drinker but giving my heart to one. I'm hoping that people who drink will be inspired to look with in and find away to quench their sorrow
