As it could have been

The day has gone
As all hopes are gone
The moon sheds ghostly light
On corpse littered gound
Marsh gas flickers
As my mind for old friends
Aye and enemies long dead
Shameful deeds forgotten
For now it is all the same
We would be better dead
Now Hell has risen
and rules the Earth.

This is a strong poem Branksome,
Plenty of deep feeling pushed
this pen..........sad ending !

Just reminder of how it could have happened.
You may not want to know, but anyone to be born after that would still be waiting, or on another planet somewhere.
But you are here.

Good we are here, after all that happened and is happening, still kicking and unsubdued, many of us very much alive, tuned to good deeds rather than bad. We all depend on these well-disposed kindly souls and should be entering their ranks. But this poem is a sobering well-timed reminder of "shameful deeds" never to be forgotten for our own good. Thank you, dear poet, for sharing!bouquet
