Grain of sand

Though I am but a grain of sand
Shipwrecked upon this earthly strand,
I dream of infinite delights
Encountered high in heaven's heights.

I’m looking up beneath night skies
Where star-strewn oceans fill my eyes,
And cosmic pearls in ink-black seas
Bestow their radiance on me.

Across this dream of time and space
Do myriad angel's voices race.
Across this sweep of space and time
They send their message wrapped in rhyme:

‘This second in eternity
We share with you our ecstasy!
Your loving family from on high
With hope would fill your ear and eye!

‘No chains shall hold --
No bars shall keep you
From your cosmic destiny,
Even though you now stand all alone
In the blackened crater
Of your burned-out dreams.
