Letter to Mum

Hello Mum, I’m sorry I haven’t written for a while
So much has happened since I last saw your smile
I’ve grown up a lot, and learnt some lessons too
I’ll tell you about them now, in this letter to you

I’ve been married thrice since the day you went away
Divorced thrice too, I can just imagine what you’d say
I know I’ve made mistakes, I bet you’ve often cried
But for all my short comings, I know I never lied

Four beautiful children, I wish you could have met
You’re memory they all know, I doubt they will forget
I talk about you often, oh the funny stories I have told
The memories so wondrous, they’re a pleasure to hold

I started writing and of that you might be very shocked
Found the creative key, and my mind was then unlocked
The love that you had taught me, floods out in my words
Sets my mind so free, when I’m soaring wild with the birds

I hope that Dads behaving since he came to be with you
He missed you so much, but then that you already knew
I know that you are watching me, from so far above
I still feel you beside me, and the strength of your love

Miss you more than words can say, but love you even more
For in my heart you still live, in many memories I adore
Well I think it’s time to say goodbye, wish you all the best
I love you Mum for always, I hope you enjoy your rest
