I have to disagree. The CCR version sounds dead by comparison to Al Wilsons. Especially if you listen to the 2 versions in the order I posted them. Mind you, I am a fan of John Fogarty I just have to call them as I see them or in this case, "hear" them.

hee wrote manty a sweet tune made a penny a record i think and fantasy owned exclusive rights not jc...thats why he would not play his old tunes for years...he sued them and got the rights back...

What you related about fantasy & JC, reminds me of Harley Davidson. The company was bought by AMF a big conglomerate only interested in share holders, executive bonuses and big office buildings. They couldn't care less about a motorcycle. AMF even went so far as to import a 250cc dirt bike from Italy and put a HD badge on it. The technology of the product line and more importantly the image went downhill so much that AMF decided to put the Harley division up for sale. The HD employees got together and raised the money by selling whatever they could, taking 2nd mortgages on their homes, begging and borrowing money from friends and family and buying the company, many of them working for practically nothing to make a go of it. The new Harley Davidson became one of the hottest stocks on Wall Street. I sometimes wonder what the AMF executives think about what might have been if only they could think outside the box. I like to think they feel as stupid as they were.
