Nope, don't have a pet and don't want one. I know for sure dog hair makes me itch but not sure about cats. I also love to come and go as I please which means sometimes I don't come home from work so its not fair to leave an animal locked up in a house alone for hours at a time. I know lots of people do it; but I wouldn't feel right doing that. People claim pets are like young children so if you wouldn't leave young children alone; why are the leaving pets alone?
For me its not a matter of preferance as i love them both , but its a matter of being able to care one and now i have time only for cat so i have cat!!!!!!!!!

I like both but prefer having a cat as a pet. My cat greets me when I come home, she sleeps on the bed at night (at least she does for awhile), she lets me know when it's time for me to play with her, and when there is a cat or two outside. There are so many things that I love about having a cat in the home. Besides, you don't have to take a cat for a walk or let them out so they can go to the bathroom and they don't bark loudly or try to lick your face. But I do like dogs, I'm just not sure I'd want one as a pet. I guess it would be ok as long as the dog got along with my cat and realized that the cat ruled the house. I don't rule the house because my cat rules the house.

For all you cat lovers out there ..... Your houses stink.
Apparently, you've never been in my house. My cat is indoors only and I keep the litter box clean. I'm very particular about smells (food and human bathroom smells) so I tend to keep candles and air fresheners around...but I digress. Her litter box doesn't stink. I thnk that the smell tends to be from the male cats that haven't been fixed, but once they are fixed the problem goes away. If the litter box is cleaned regularly, then the smell shouldn't be a problem. Of course, my cat has been known to pass gas but it doesn't happen frequently. Less than 2x per year.

Yeah, I have to agree with you there but to be fair; a friend of mine has three dogs and his house really stinks too. I can't be in there for more than a few minutes.
I have both cats and dogs. They are all rescued abused/abandoned pets. The cats rule, of course . . . and the dogs know their place. The alpha cat is a big old female, who just has to give one of the dogs 'the look' to remind them who is boss. The dogs back up, cringe, whimper and beg for mercy.
NAKEDMUDPEOPLE: Today we found out, our family dog has cancer of the spleen. She has not suffered for two weeks and after this week end, she will be at peace. She has brought lots of love to many and her job is done. Thank you Blaze for the years you gave to humans that were never worthy of your unconditional love!
Oh my dear I am so very sorry I have 4 dogs of my own and the oldest Shane is 10yrs old.... my wonderful Golden Retriever,he is my shadow my best friend and he has been by my side through thick and thin and his legacy has been to teach my younger dogs the unconditional love that he has shown to me. I know how you feel.
I have 2 cats and a Doberman dog. Also 2 Betta fish. I love animals. I had a pony growing up. My family only had cats. When I got married, we had both. The ex was a sheltie guy. So we both grew to love both cats and dogs. Now that I am single, my latest Doberman has been owned by me. I have one of my ex's cats. I think having a animal is good for your health. I think that for all the love they give, to take care of them doesn't bother me at all.
hawaiihibou: Pets are an integral part of life, but are they part of your life?
They have been since I was big enough to touch them. My Grandmother didn't like a cat inside, so I would smuggle one in. They would be inside until I was caught. I found out my Mom did the same thing.
