No one really said bored. More that everyone around them would die, and that they would cease to be a natural real human being.
Being immortal would give you access to immense wealth, if you think about it. Rob a bank, what's 20 years in prison mean to you? Buy a load of valuables, stash them for a hundred years and sell them as antiques.
There would be almost no risk to anything you did. So what would be the thrill in doing anything you wanted? Maybe think about it a bit more.
dantes85: Well Westy, when the sun dies in about 4 billion years, it will expand and consume the Earth. So, as far as we are concerned, half forever is 2 billion years. Unless you bring other planets or solar systems into it, then who knows?
fifitheminx: that and the truman show.. would be great to watch...evil.. but great viewing lol
I'd love to pay a whole town to do Groundhog Day as a practical joke. If you want the Truman show, sure find a way to access the camera network in Britain. They've a serious amount of them in "Airstrip One".

Well,Surely, the people dying would be replaced by people born ! we all meet new people in our life and make new friends, so thats a no brainer, also , i dont think that risking your life is the way to enjoy your life, ! There is so so so many things to do that are interesting, things to learn that would take a lifetime, just to learn one ! and their are hundreds. Places to go and explore, thousands. People to meet, never ending. Advice to give based on experience!! and many many other reasons. Maybe think about it a bit more aswell.

Well some people bond for life, and you could read back on a few other posts to see what people's opinions on that are.
Regarding advice based on experience, that would most likely lead to a Cassandra complex. One of the curses of growing older and knowing more through experience, is knowing that young people seldom listen to your advice. All you can do is let them make their own mistakes and hope they don't screw it up too much. True wisdom points people in the right direction and allows them to arrive at their own conclusions.
I suppose we are at an impasse here, but as immortality is not within our grasp, we can't continue to debate indefinitely.
dantes85: A question a friend of mine asked me a few years ago. Think about the answer, really think, feel free to post your reasons and/or thoughts.
I answered yes can you imagine living to end of time, all the things you would see, the evolution of mankind over the next 500 million years or so, imagine if you had been born at the birth of Egypt you would have seen the start and finish of the pyramids, be there for leonardo da vinci ect ect how cool would that have been, and who knows whats to come, ya I would love to live forever.

Assuming that we don't wipe ourselves out in the next few centuries.
Homo sapiens are well overdue an evolutionary leap. If that happens, you could end up in a zoo with the monkeys.
The thing is, knowledge and technology lost over the ages would have survived in living memory - had a person been alive at the rise of Egypt. The Renaissance, Da Vinchi etc., alot of those discoveries were actually rediscoveries of Ancient Greek and Roman knowledge, and also Egyptian knowledge as communication existed between Rome and Egypt. But that's very complex politically - many factions who have risen to power have actively sought to suppress knowledge, technology and science. So you'd "know" alot, but would probably suffer criticism and persecution if you revealed your knowledge. Or you'd end up being treated like a god, which would alter the development of mankind.
It's also like Rudolf Diesel, the inventor of the diesel engine. His idea was to build a cheap, rugged, efficient engine that could run on a variety of available fuels. He wanted it to be used in the third world for generators and farm equipment. So he was a good guy with good intentions - a visionary. When his engine was built, and it's potential realised; rather than helping to feed and provide for the poor, it was used in tanks, submarines, warships. His idea became a weapon capable of mass destruction, from the point of view of the time. And it destroyed him in the end, to see what his creation became.
So if you survived the ages and gained all that knowledge, what would you in good conscience do with it - if you get my point.
