This is known as wind fall money. All money has labels. I have always invested wind fall money in several mutual stocks, bonds or several types of security. The returns from the investments, I would spend on material items for myself or help friends. Most people who receive wind fall money are broke within 5 years because of poor management. I am retired now and I am very happy I followed this simple little rule.

I would live right here in Kauai full time and live off my investments, interest, and dividends. I would financially set up those I love and care about. Once a year I'd play Santa Claus to the homeless and pick a few select ones to set up in a place to live and give them a means to make money as well.
