I completely believe in them. The heart doesn't understand distance and hopefully there won't be distance for long. When they don't work, it's usually cause the people involved chose to stop trying, and that's sad.

One of the most frequently asked question on this forum.
My answer, No, you have to spend time with someone to love them, you can like what you know of someone from contact on here and hope it may grow to love but no you can not love someone you have not actually spent time with in real life.

A few months ago i would have agreed with you,but i fell in love with someone here before we actually met in person.Never in a million years did i think it would happen to me,it completly goes against everything i believe in....but it did. When we did meet everything just fell into place.I love this man with all my heart.
As in different countries / getting on a plane or more than 3 hours drive? (we had this discussion on the Irish forums recently)
In general you have to be able to spend time with a person, so meeting someone once or twice a year for a holiday isn't really a test. I would want to be able to meet someone regularly, even if it's only on the weekends, anything else would defeat the purpose of a relationship for me.
For me personally, I'm getting 6 to 8 times a year on a plane to visit my family and couldn't be bothered to do any more flying.
That's my 2 cents worth, best of luck to everyone who would want to make it work long distance!
To me, long distance relationship is only for cyber friendship. To develop a REAL LOVE RELATIONSHIP, I need to meet the man in real life and spend more time together to get to know each other better (Not necessarily living together though). Being apart for a certain time, even the bond of a married couple could be broken.
It may work for someone else, but not for me. I've been there a couple times. So when lately a wonderful man from a far away country said that he will take me to his favorite places after we meet, it sounds hopeful but it's just making me cryin'. As I know, unless he moves to my country or I move to his country, nothing will work..!
I believe in love. If two people want a relationship to last, the distance should just be an adjustment somewhere down the line. If distance is a problem........then the parties should not embark on developing a relationship.
