MADDOG69: They were. But not anymore. BTW, I do love Digweed and Sasha. Saw Digweed 4 years ago in the POD. Oakenfold wasn't mentioned either and he's a legend. For for all around appeal nowadays you have to consult the Top 100 as Voted for by DJMag. It actually isn't a matter of debate in terms of universal popularity.
I am not a huge fan of Oakenfold to be honest. Too poppy for me. That perfecto label is full of crap.
I have seen Digweed, Sasha and Emerson countless times and still believe no one can touch Sasha. The man is a genius behind the decks. An honourable mention must go to Andy Wetaherall too. He is more a producer now but I seen him in the early 90's in The Beat Club...Fantastic DJ. !
That French goon Gueta was caught recently at a gig pretending to mix but he really had a CD on! Shamefull.

Sure, Pefecto got very mainstream, but Oakenfold Live still was great 5 years ago. Even his old sets from early 90's are great. That was before my time so I can only listen back to recorded sets. I'm not disagreeing with you on Sasha and Digweed, BTW. I know they were crucial in the scene as far back as the underground and industrial raves in the UK in the 80's. And they are among my favourites. But, contemporary speaking I'd have to go to one of Armin's gigs if there was a choice between the two nowadays. It's probably more to do with the diff. music I'm into aswell.
No surprise with Guetta. He's a muppet true and true.

He certainly is a muppet. I like Dave Clarke too. His Techno sets are legendary. David Holmes was a great DJ back in the day. The best to come from Ireland anyway. He is producing music for movies now but back in the early 90's him and Ian McCreedy were residents in Sugar Sweet in Belfast.
Makes his own beats, sings his own songs on them, talks the hell out of a mic and rock any dance arena. There is no one that can introduce a song like him and make you feel the impact in his words then the impact of the song. Mind blowing!!!
I'm sure that he has mixed more hit songs than all the listed Dj, no offence.

One lad from Ireland I like nowadays is John O'Callaghan. He's very popular abroad aswell.
