bard76: just something to think about. being able bodied with all 5 senses its hard to imagine losing any.
I've often thought about this, since I'm blind in one eye. I would much rather go deaf than blind. Sure, if there was a fire alarm, I wouldn't hear it going off. But, I would be terrified to be totally blind. I couldn't drive a car, I couldn't do any errands, I wouldn't be able to use the Internet (boring), and worst of all, I wouldn't be able to see these beautiful angels on CS! Yikes! That would be torture!

If I could choose I prefer to miss taste for two reasons.
First, the other senses are useful for my life, even smell because warns of danger, for example gas or smoke.
The other reason is that probably I would lose a few extra pounds that I have plenty.

come on, no flavor in your food, taste and smell are connected so lose one and the others diminished, touch? you'd be giving up all your physical pleasures and not feeling pain so you could cut yourself not notice and bleed to death, hearing? no music, no warning, no aural comedy, you'd have to learn sign language. na, give up sight get given a dog and a white stick pretty much universal respect [developed world anyway] blind people have access to many resources the others don't cept hearing and all your other senses would be enhanced, yep sight any day and with all the advances in science they'll probably cure you next year.
