RE: This should go down well and it's in the correct place!!!

Yea, you wanna read the fine print on that virgins thing... I don't think it states gender or level of attractiveness anywhere... Just sayin...

RE: what happens when you die

My belief is that we live many lives. I believe that we have a core lesson we must learn in each life until we have learned all that we can. Following that, I believe that we can choose either to become part of a collective spiritual consciousness, or we can purge ourselves and start the cycle all over again. I believe that in choosing our next life, we are given guidance from the consciousness, but it is ultimately our decision where we go and who we remain with.
I don't expect anyone to have the same beliefs I hold, and that is fine. Diversity makes the world go round. wine

RE: Fed-up Americans to flood D.C. with outrage

Sounds good to me. grin But doesn't that make you a girl? laugh

RE: Is there a woman that doesn't argue and complain?

I wonder, dear boy, do you even realize just how much you're contradicting yourself by posting the way you are? You say you're happy most of the time, but you certainly don't sound it here. You say you're polite and well-mannered, yet you keep ignoring some very valid points that have been made. So I'm wondering if you're lying or if you're just that blind to how you present yourself?
I know someone who acts quite a lot like you do, and I've had to distance myself from him completely. Why was that? Because he claimed to be a kind, smart, and caring person, when in reality, he is cold, callous, and only interested in keeping company with those he can use. He only likes to be around people who agree with him all the time and constantly boost his ego. Anyone who tries to tell him that his actions are harmful to others in an attempt to help him become better (like myself) become insignificant to him, and unworthy of basic courtesy.
From what I have read, you resemble the individual I've described to a startling degree. This is a little frightening, as I have done a lot of research in the last year, and I've found that he fits the profile of a narcissist almost exactly. With you reminding me of him so much, I cannot bring myself to have much sympathy for you as you are now. However, I will give you this: Look up Sam Vaknin on Youtube. He is an expert in the psychological field, specifically on Narcissism. I feel that perhaps, armed with information, you could at least come to understand why you are getting responses from others the way you have.

RE: Is there a woman that doesn't argue and complain?

I think the technical term for what he's looking for would be "Narcissistic Supply". He certainly does have several traits of NPD from what I've read... But then I'm no psychiatrist; I just read a lot.

RE: When do you know when your in love?

I used to define love as when you cared more about someone else's happiness and well being than your own. Unfortunately, I'm prone to caring for people that way a lot, so I have to rethink my definition of love.
It's hard to explain how I think love is supposed to feel, but I think it centers around feeling safe in being vulnerable. Or maybe that's just wishful thinking... moping

RE: Can You Believe In A Religeon You Have Never Questioned.?

I am in complete agreement. I came up with an interesting argument when I was a teenager that went a little something like this:
"Wouldn't your god appreciate faith that's been proven unshakable? I mean, wouldn't it mean more to him/her/it if you found that there was no other faith out there that made sense aside from this one? Why not use your mind and question things? See if this path is REALLY right for you?"
I've just always thought that in order to call oneself faithful, you had to have been through tests to know that you are.

RE: What Is Your Favorite Recipe That You Bake or Cook For Christmas, Kwanza, etc.

Healthy Pumpkin Bread

Ingredients

3/4 cup honey
2 eggs
localoffersIcon
1 2/3 c. whole wheat or sprouted flour*
½ c. melted butter or coconut oil**
1/4 c. cold water
1 c. pumpkin (about half a 15 oz can)
½ t. cinnamon
½ t. nutmeg
¼ t. baking powder
1 t. baking soda
¾ t. salt
½ t. cloves
1 Tbs. molasses (opt.)

Instructions

Mix all ingredients together. Put in greased loaf pan or muffin tin. Bake at 325 degrees.
Bread (one loaf) = 65-80 minutes
12 Muffins = 35-40 minutes
24 Mini muffins = 25 minutes

I fell in love with this recipe I found earlier this year. it is so delicious! And it tastes great with a little bit of cream cheese spread on. Also, I found that if you use a loaf pan, but coat it with foil, bake time is about 40 minutes. I highly recommend this, especially if you have little ones to get out the door in the morning as it's sweet enough for them to love but no sugar goes into it.Also, it's quick enough to give Mom or Dad a little extra time in the morning. Happy Holidays, everyone!
(If I remember, I'll try to post my Aunt Faith's awesome pumpkin roll recipe soon.)

RE: Drinks

If I'm going to drink, I'll usually have rum & Coke. Though I do like trying new drinks now and then, usually on my birthday. Though if I have the money for them, I can always do a few apple martinis. Those are lovely. (That was also my first legal drink.) :)

RE: Women only! Would you go out with me after reading this?

If you're not shouting, you might want to stop violating Caps Lock. Just a thought...

RE: Dumb Question???...

I call myself a geek a lot because I'm into things like Harry Potter, Doctor Who, Buffy, Anne Rice, Stephen King, and anime when I have the patience for it. I even went so far as to make a Ninja Turtles reference recently. Does that qualify me for the nerd card? rolling on the floor laughing

RE: Is this what Christmas has become?

Yea, people are mostly committing highway robbery where batteries are concerned. roll eyes It's kind of disgusting, really. But thank goodness for the Dollar Tree! grin

RE: Is this what Christmas has become?

Personally, I get more into trying to figure out the most thoughtful gifts to get my family. I don't believe that the best gifts are the most expensive. I like to actually put thought into things that the people I love will enjoy and benefit from. For example, I am giving my sister in law a beautiful photo album that I got from a friend. I have nowhere to display this particular item, and she is meticulous with decorating, so I feel she will get more use out of it.
As for the children in my life, I have begun a tradition of giving them books they might enjoy. This way, they have fun while expanding their imaginations and reading comprehension. If not that, I would find things for them based on their passions. For instance, one of my nieces wants to be a scientist. Based on that, I might find a children's chemistry set for her.
This is how I think Christmas gifts should be: based on thoughtfulness, not price tags. I feel it is more meaningful to give gifts that have thought put into them than just checking to see what costs the most. I feel that this is more representative of what Christmas is supposed to mean: Celebrating love and togetherness.

RE: what are you listening to now?

Pinch Me by The Barenaked Ladies

I love 90s nostalgia. :D

RE: who brings the best out in you..? people who you sparkle in the light

My nine year old nephew and his baby brother are absolutely my world. I love my big guy so much. I had a hand in raising him, and he's made me so very proud in so many ways. I don't even have the words to properly express my love for that wonderful little man.
As for the baby, well... He makes me smile more than anything else in the world. everything he learns, every new thing he does and each time he laughs, I can't help but smile and love him that much more.
I know they're not my sons, but from the moment they were born, I thought of them as "my boys". My big guy knows this, and knows that I will always feel this way. I can only hope that my baby boy will grow up knowing how much I love him, as well. These boys are the very sunlight of my world. purple heart

RE: What is the #1 most important quality in a potential date?

Completely agree. I mean a hottie, even if he's honest, can't keep my attention and interest if he proves himself to be a complete moron, or has no sense of humor.... Am I asking too much?

RE: Hurricane SANDY

My town just got power back last night after about 36 hours without. Considering how small this place is, I was incredibly surprised. My brother and his family in Hamilton were still dark, last I heard. As far as damage, there's a lot, but not as much as I thought there'd be. Downed trees, debris, etc. The most startling bit of damage I've seen was the roof blown off my niece and nephews' school. And apparently the new sign outside the Hamilton Y is gone. I think a lot of Trenton and Columbus are still dark, but I don't know for certain...
At any rate, I hope everyone is alright and got through the storm safely.

RE: Hurricane SANDY

Well, I just heard on the radio that a good deal of coastal communities in NJ are under mandatory evacuation. 101.5 FM is giving regular updates on evacuations, shelters, conditions, etc. Apparently the storm surge is already over 2.5 ft at the shore, and the storm is still 400 mi. away.
As for my area, I've got the same conditions as Ooby at the moment. Intermittent wind, dark clouds, no rain yet, but it seems to be the calm before the storm.

RE: Why oh why are loonies so afraid to have profile pictures.

Does that say more about you or Boban, though? One must wonder... laugh

RE: do you know lots of mad people

Is it any wonder I like imitating the Cheshire Cat? My nieces and nephews tell me all the time that I'm crazy. To which I grin and reply, "careful. it's genetic." devil

RE: What is your favorite color ?

I'm in love with three colors: turquoise, silver, and purple... The first because it's my birthstone, the second because it's pure and clean and peaceful, and the third because it represents power, spirituality, and calm.

RE: Born to....?

I was born to scare the crap out of people with the sheer volume and density of my awesomeness. rolling on the floor laughing grin

RE: Atheism !!!

My take on beliefs in general is that they present comfort for many. In Abrahamic religions(Christianity, Judaism, Islam), people take comfort in a higher power they believe to be watching over them. They also take comfort in believing that living a "virtuous"* life will give them peace in the afterlife. There is also the comfort of numbers involved. As social animals, we like the thought that we are not alone in our thinking. We like having common ground with others, and to have that on a large scale is generally comforting.

As for my own beliefs, I blaze my own trail. I believe many things that give me comfort, and I believe that everyone has a path to follow in life. You cannot force others to walk down a path that is not right for them. Eventually, they find their way to where they need to be. From that perspective, I believe that we are all meant to find our way to the "light"** that unites us.

*I only put that in quote because the term is open to interpretation.

**Part of my own beliefs more than anything else.

RE: Profile photos with children.

It's gunny this topic should come up, actually. I thought the other day how I'd love to put up a pic or two of myself with my nieces and nephews. But immediately following that was "I can't do that! It's not safe!" It kind of makes me sad that we have to be so cautious as to not share the joy we feel around children with others. We live in alarming times, where pictures of our children or children we love can make us targets.
So while I would love to put up pics of what I call my whole world, I know I never will for fear that I should put those children in danger. I imagine it's tenfold for parents. :(

RE: Do you have Charisma?

My social awkwardness is my charisma! rolling on the floor laughing Either that or my sarcasm. grin

RE: A question for the ladies

I don't care how frustrated one can get with kids; I know they can be a handful. That is no excuse for that woman's rudeness! Personally, I'd have thanked anyone for being kind enough to help when I was obviously overloaded and overwhelmed. It's nothing I wouldn't do, myself. So to label you a chauvinist a**hole when you were simply being kind is highly uncalled for. To be honest, I think people should start being kinder to one another. I mean who couldn't use a hand every now and then? The term is "Karma".

RE: Which drunken celebrity would you drive home if they asked?

I'm afraid I'm going to go a bit left of center and say I'd drive Ville Valo home. Followed by a "What the hell were you thinking?" in the morning, as it took becoming incredibly ill to make him stop drinking in the first place. sigh

RE: how do you judge other members???

I don't see anything wrong with liking a pretty face. But they only hold my interest for so long. I'm more impressed by intelligence and kindness. I can easily be turned off by a pretty face if it's attached to an a**hole, an idiot or a liar. conversely, I'm turned on by honesty, intellect, compassion, and just genuinely nice people.
I think it can be said for a lot of people that a pretty face can turn your head, but a pretty personality can keep you looking.

RE: God undeniably exists!

That doesn't mean God exists, it just means millions believe in him. As for the *Millions can't be wrong" mentality... Millions of people also believed the world would end come the new millennium. There are also millions of people who believe Stephenie Meyer is amazingly talented author... All it proves is that many people are fools.

RE: You like your Kids to be a

My nephew's latest career goal is to be an FBI agent. My mother wants him to be a mathematician. Personally, I think the kiddos should be like Jo Rowling: People who do the best they can with the talent they've got. As long as they hone what they're good at and love to do, it's all good.
