What do you think of the U.S. PRISM program? (42)

KIBALUV: Some people are fooled into thinking that PRISM will protect the U.S. from terrorist attacks. Well, where were they during the Boston Marathon bombing?

Our window on the world just got bigger with technology and we must embrace the good and bad that comes with that. Everywhere there are discussions between the balance of protection of the country, protection of individual rights and privacy issues.

You could ask, where were they during the shootings that are going on in our schools and workplaces and neighborhoods. Or where were they when my car was stolen?

That is an unrealistic link to say that all crime domestic and foreign can be foreseen and prevented.

The better information is taken from the field.

Intercepting communications only provides clues, including many false clues.

counter-intelligence - makes my head spin move than a good spy movie does -

So why is there a German connection to the Snowden affair? Why is the release of information about how bad America is coming out of Germany - what else is going on?

Everybody spies to everybody, no one is more bad. In fact, it's good to know how much things other countries are hiding.

But Snowden informed about methods that many countries didn't know, and Germany suddenly discovered that even its president's phone was under surveillance. And Snowden said he's ready to testify about it.

didn't the German news publish Snowden's manifesto or something - where does Russia stand in all this - are they happy to divert attention from somewhere else?

I understand from my German friends that general German folk are really angry and say the Americans have gone too far.

All the european countries are trying to divert attention to hide their own faults about taping phone and internet communications.

The details can't be published, I don't know much.
