yeah, it can be tough on them. If I had kids, they would be number 1 and so should be expected. I prefered to step back.

I'm on the fence on this one.
I'm fine with kids, but so not much with bad parents.
I don't have the energy to deal with a sit on the couch and scream hack that thought their life didn't have to change just because they had children.

I love children. My nieces and nephews reaped the benefits of having an Auntie without a child of her own.
But if I'm being honest, it got kind've old being left dangling at the last moment because of children's crises. I understand that children come first. I am at a point in my life however where I hope to meet someone who won't leave me dangling again and again and again.
The last guy I dated didn't have children, but his schedule was dictated solely by his clients. He was unable to make plans with me and that also got old being the one leaving my schedule open in case he could meet me at the last moment, and then canceling again.
So...my long way of saying, it is simply easier at my point in life to meet someone on the same page as I am. I have time to date and share my time with someone. I would enjoy meeting someone who is at the same place.

I agree, I have time to date and spend with someone, at this time in my Life, Dating someone who has no free time, I am still alone, What is the point...
So, I just wait Patiently, and If it is meant to be, it will be, I also did the long distance thing as well, and that is not Nice having someone that you can hardly ever see... and it brings tension as well in My Experience... So I can Relate to what you are saying. 
I have three grown children. I don't mind if my mate has children grown or not. And I would consider having another child.
I have grown children and they are grown and gone except for one. She is 28 and has celerbal palsy and like a small child. she will remain with me but I just started thinking about dating again but not to sure. I have to really trust a person to let anyone to get into my comfort zone
