Glatlol: Well it would show he had some respect for himself. The man was so riddled with drink he was incoherent most of the time.
Like I said, we are all entitled to opinions, likes, etc. There is no need to disrespect anyone no matter what they do with themselves, and, as far as I know, He is still pretty much alive, so the past tense doesnot apply

But he showed great disrespect to the people who paid to see his performance, by coming on so pissed he was incoherent, I hope they got their money back. The same goes for ant performer even Elvis when he was so doped up he couldn't stand. sorry but JMO.

Simply stating facts, the man had no respect for himself or the people he worked with, if he had he wouldnt have destroyed himself with drink.
And I wouldnt exactly call laughing at him respectful either.

The man might not have respect at all, but that's the way he is. You don't have to like him, nor kill him. I merely named a person I like.

As for laughing at him, I wouldn't call it that. I find his laugh funny, just like I find most of the things my three year old kid does funny, and I have a masive respect for him. One thing is "laughing at", a very different one is "laughing with". Who hasn't laugh at someone else's expense at one point or another?
A probably list of more prominent Irish figures, past and present could be:
Charlie Haughey, Enda Kenny, Paul McGrath, Bertie Ahern, The Magdelene Sisters, George Best, ..... just to name a few.

"The most important thing to remember about drunks is that drunks are far more intelligent than non-drunks- they spend a lot of time talking in pubs, unlike workaholics who concentrate on their careers and ambitions, who never develop their higher spiritual values, who never explore the insides of their head like a drunk does. Shane Macgowan Genius!
