Simple - I refuse to vote. Unfortunately all above age 18 have to sign the Registration form TO vote or face a fine.
AND For all persons who say that we must vote etc etc - I say there should be a NO INTEREST Box on all ballot papers to allow registration of contempt and dissent for statistical purposes.

In the days of triangulation and rule by opinion poll I didn't believe it mattered. 90% of what the government did was whatever is most popular at that small moment in time(New Labour). Since the recession and especially since Brexit I feel differently. Brexit shows that democracy can throw a spanner in the works anytime it wants to and you'd have to be a complete greying baby to not have some faith restored in democracy. If you can do that much damage on a whim imagine what could be achieved if you applied yourself?

Hi Mike , I agree , but let me give you my take on the whole ball of wax. Voters are generally stupid, why? because they have the attitude of , "I have to vote for him/her because they belong to my party". The voters seldom study the candidates for qualifying , they just suck up to the garbage the candidates spew when campaigning. I'm here to tell you neither party has all the answers. studecar professor

My contention is based on the fact that in order to be an MP under the oldr ules anyone with a criminal record cannot stand and any MP who faced one while in office was suspended until verdict. That was changed under the Thatcher government and has not been rescinded by The LiBore Governent under Pink tinged B Liar or the arrogant Brown.

What you say is true in Thanet South -The latest Tory MP faces charges of an illegal expenses claim and only faces Court Next year yet is still allowed to represent the constituency.
The Tory party has always been an elitist far right / right wing party of the ruling and wealthy classes and traditionally against working people keeping too much of our money. They talk down at people in public and the Cabinet have not suspended his membership.
My feeling is that any party with an MP facing court action should suspend him from duties until the result and if Guilty sack him and call a bi election immediately. They are only required to do that on death so Ergo - The MP in question could easily be got rid of one dark night.

The only problem is that In Thanet North and South, the local joke since the war with only one exception has been to say "You can put a monkey up wearing a blue Badge and they would be elected.
The latest one even looks close. laugh laugh laugh cheers
