I had quit once before, for 3 1/2 years, and I know real well that instinctive "patting my pockets" for a smoke. A time when a game of pool, a gin 'n tonic at my side, split tails on the other, allowed me to cave in without a fight. Gave up that scene some time ago, though I do miss kickin' somebodies butt in a game of pool. I don't miss the hangovers, wondering why my wallet was empty, and rolling over in bed thinking, "this ain't my bed!"

I'm quitting for the last time. I know how to do it, now I just have to do it. The final part is what's been the hardest: stop buying the cigarettes! As one person once told me, you can't quit if you keep buying them. I stopped last night so that Reverse and I wouldn't smoke then and today together. We're supposed to be quitting together, and he does fine when he's not around me. It's me that's having difficulty since my last weak moment when I gave in.
So...day one for me, day three for him. We're doing this together for ourselves and for each other.
Oh, and Sundown, you've been part of my support as well. You, Jeepers, Larry, Merky, and everyone here on CS. And thank you, Thumper, for this thread. I agree with Sundown40, CS is an awesome place!
Day two, and making it through. Went for a trail walk yesterday, and I'm going again today. It helps to remind me of why I'm quitting. I'm just grateful the weather is holding so beautifully here! It's 60 degrees F, sunny, and no wind...a beautiful day to trail walk!
HotrodLarrys: I decided To quit smoking. I have successfully made it 3 1/2-weeks.......... 24 Days. Not One Drag.............
If you want to quit climb aboard, if not ride along anyway If you have a success story tell it..... If you dont , MAKE ONE Remember...... No one wants to kiss an Ashtray... Best wishes QUIT TOGATHER The Day is Monday April 20, When you wake up SMOKE FREE....
Hope I can help
If someone smokes, I dont date them; i'm not going to dictate what someone does but I'm also not going to accept it for my life. I think it's disgusting and gross and kills more people in the u.s. than anything else.
