Hi jash difficult to answer because i only know about the countries i have lived in.
I did like the values in Turkey, where the family unit is paramount when the parents get old they are looked after by there children and are respected, not like UK where the majority of elderly people are put in homes

Sad, but true. worked for eight years in a job where i would see this happen alot. Seems to much effort to look after your family anymore.

Well, my country is not too bad off here. You get a year of with 80% of your salary when having a baby. Paying a small sum for daycare. Both parents can split the year between them but certain weeks are just set for dad.

I was just about to aske where Sweden is on the list!!!
We did a study called the leonardo project a few years ago in work. It comapred work practices/holidays/family friendly arrangements etc... from an employee point of view. It involved a few Countries, Sweden being one of them.
I think 90% of our staff wanted to move to Sweden when the reports were given.

This is much like Norway's system, too. 80% earnings the first year, 70% the second... loads of family incentives.

Actually, the Country I am living in now, Uruguay. I´ts very Conservative, has High Family values. Kids, only leave home, aftrer College or when they get Married, Church etc. Even the way they dress is conservative, low drug rate and drinking in the young people, Thank God.... When our Parents get old, we do our utmost to keep them with us, not send them to "Old Folks Home" Family gatherings are every single weekend! Frankly, this is the way I was raised, and this Country, may be part of the Third World, but it has many pluses. Women and Children are respected ALOT. I could go on...but too long...sorry, I don´t like long Posts!
Yes it's absoultely ok to be a parent here. Also, as a stateemployer i get 5 weeks of vacation with full pay. Never difficult to get time off when needed. Hm, remember Ireland. I lived there for a couple of years. Loved it in so many ways. Great people first of all. Friendly but also a bit of a struggle from a spoiled swede's point of view. Remember always saving the electricity, Nice coalfires, pubs, drinks and music. Ireland is different but will always be my second home. Sweden is nice and secure but lacks in things you have.
