It depends on how long I have known her as towhat I would get but I would try to remember from previous conversations what her likes and dislikes were and find that special something that she would really like. I tend to put a lot of thought into gift giving and not to give the usual suspects as gifts.
One thing I have learned from experience is that women are more about the card than the gift.
I on the other hand I had thought that a well thought out gift would trump not having a card...WRONG!
I think and I may be wrong but you could give a woman a Hershey bar that was half eaten wraped up in tin foil for a present . And if your card really touched her heart it would transform this thoughtless present in to a sentiment that would last a life time.
When asked what she recieved from you on her birthday she would exclaim to her girlsfriends that...It was so wonderful ...He had eaten half of a hershey bar and gave me the rest...Its as if he were saying "I want to share everything with you"

(No! I have never given a half eaten candy bar for a present)
Well I picked other, she like to read but a book isn’t enough. I guess I have kind of a personal quark that everything should be as memorable as possible because memories are all you really end up with. Ok say I decided to buy her a book because she likes to read, I would hunt the internet, "everything is for sale there" and find a autographed copy of a book by a author she really likes, then plan a nice little dinner just for us where I can give it to her then maybe a little star gazing on the beach.. Shadow loves the Ocean you know. I know some of you may have better gifts or ideas this is just mine.
Go totaly out of the box, a rose a day to match her age with a letter on the card that gives her a message form you hart, then a night on the town to remember or a quiet dinner fpr two at hame.
