sambhava: Bearing in mind that stainless steel and aluminium are both seriously toxic (not that your "healthcare" authorities are ever gonna tell you that!), without doubt it's best to use cast iron or enamel (such as "Le Creuset" from France). People have been poisoning themselves and their children for years with stainless steel and aluminium, but do they ever listen...? Nah! Of course not!
I never realised stainless steel ones were as toxic as aluminium, just as well I ended up with a couple of cast iron ones in the end then. I couldn't afford "Le creuset" ones as I just spent all my spare money on budgie perches and toys So, I just got a couple from online auction site " Salter" they are, pics on my profile. Ah well ,it's a start
use lemon juice and salt on copper only so sorrywash your cast iron, dry, ...take a drop or two of oil (my aunt who taught me too cook reccommended bacon greese) just enough to coat the pan work in and paper towel off ......do this every time and it works Ive got some cast iron 20 yrs old
This is a stupid question But, do I season it on the outside and underneath (the bit that goes over the flames) or just the inside I season?
I use, Zell, Pentole, an Italian make, that are stainless stell with a copper base. The heat is distributed evenly and I have had them for ten years, guaranteed to last a lifetime, whether that is my lifetime, one can only hope.
I think a good set of pans, like knives is a worthwile investment, unless one lives of convenience foods of course.
They sound good but did you see what Sambhava had to say about stainless steel
Zellarrone1: Which in your opinion are the healthiest pans to use and which ones distribute the heat the most even?
I use anodized aluminum ones. Not teflon coated so they're healthier, but they're easier to use than most of the others. I always have trouble with things sticking to the stainless and aluminum ones. Heat distribution is nice on them too.
Everything seems to be a catch 22 these days. I think I'll just quit cooking with anything and stop eating altogether. That should solve most problems except the problems caused from starvation.

I dunno what anodized aluminium is, I'll have to google that too

I thought similar thing, I'll not do any cooking at all, just live completely on convenience foods cooked in microwave but then I remembered microwaves have dangers too. Or like you I'll just stop eating altogether and starve

I like cast iron and teflon coated.
But basically, I use whatever is clean at the time of cooking. And since most of my pots and pans are either cast iron or teflon coated, well, you do the math...

Go raw instead...if you're a raw organic vegan, then your food is safer and there's no cooking involved, and you don't starve. All problems solved.
