There's an old old folk story here in Tn. about lonely farm boys screwing watermelons on a warm summer afternoon. It is retold in Cormac McCarthy's novel SUTREE. Be sure to plug the side that is warm from the sun. Then you can feed it to the girl who wouldn't put out.

Thanks for that. I'll check to see where my watermelons are grown before I buy one.
Well a similar technique can be used to pick both... 1) tap the crown of the melon/woman if it makes a sort of hollow empty sound it is ripe for the picking 2)Pick up the melon/woman and hold it. It should feel light for its size 3) Avoid overly soft melons/women 4)If possible, simply ask the grocer/bartender how fresh the melons/women are 5)Inspect the melon/woman for scars or tears in the skin. Most melons/women are delicate, tear, and breakdown easily. Pick one with no scars, tears, bruises or blemishes in the skin.
If you follow tthese simple rules...you will have yourself a prize melon/woman!
I think what the man is getting at is that you can't choose a woman on what she looks like, it's what's on the inside that's gonna make you happy. Just like a melon, it may look good, but be rotten on the inside. But most people aren't gonna pick up a rotten looking melon, no matter if it's sweet or not, lol.
