It's a matter of sentiment, I believe, that sets something apart.
In my last relationship, among the things I gave her was an antique pocket watch.
It was simple, old, and impractical for use, but it's significance, and relevance to her and her interests, and the symbolism of it was where the romance. It wasn't a matter of material value.

flowers are pretty but very unimaginative and predictable. i think a guy who can reach a womans heart has to come up with something more original than that lol. how about the element of surprise? romance is about capturing a persons heart in a unique way, well in my opinion
