Didn't Mary Harney tell people awhile back that they should shop around. I think that was around the same time that Eddie Hobbs had a program on RTE called rip off Ireland.

You must be listening to her if you're going up the north to shop around !! You're dead right though, if the prices were reduced down here there wouldn't be any need for people to travel to the north.
Omurchu65: Personally i think anyone south of Drogheda should shop local and not bother going across the border......Why ... simple Its causing traffic chaos when i go shopping there....
well john its very easy for you to say no if you have a nice bank balance.. and the money doesnt go near the queen's purse, it goes into the united kingdom's expenditure.. lets not forget the 50's to the 80's where the english greeted many an irish man with a great job in london and other cities when englands industrial sector was booming.. anyways in my opinion, you would be quite daft not to go up the north to do your xmas shopping, that is if of course you watch your money carefully.. if you dont, well then stay put i was in enniskillen thursday night and friday night buying alcohol.. 15 bottles of budweiser for 7 pound, 1 litre of smirnoff vodka for 14 pound... so i got a few boxes of the budweiser and a bottle of the vodka.. also 6 cans of carlsberg for 2.30.. ill be going there again once or twice before xmas... just on that run alone for drink i spent 120 pound, and i saved myself roughly 100 euro... id rather have an extra 100 euro in my pocket than worry about the queens income
