That's the current reason, as well as greed and religious idealogy, the future will likely be for water and survival. Many people will abandon all their BS beliefs, religious morality and do whatever it takes just to live.
It's nothing new.

Unfortunately many of these people are actually religious leaders; therefore it is reasonable to make relgion synonymous with conflict and hatred between peoples.
My own opinion is that when a people have a good standard of living they don't NEED to start wars with other people; ok the USA has a reasonable standard of living but there are many other reasons to start a war inspired by politicians.
Religion is a wonderful excuse to stir up hatred in a populace for other people - 'your' religion is of course wonderful and peaceful in 'your' eyes whatever your faith is but the 'other' religion is, of course, the epitomy of pure evil and is to be feared and destroyed if possible.

Just because you've not experienced terrorism before......... no need to start a decade of wars; the IRA (funded in part by nice warm cuddly Americans) had been blowing us up on the UK mainland for decades but we didn't have to invade a couple of other countries in blind retaliation, did we?
