As long as he wined and dined you with the finest of foods and drink. The bill must not be less than $1000, for the food alone. Now the drinks bill will be higher as you shall be sipping on pink vintage champagne out of 19c waterford crystal glasses, that could potentially cost $10,000 a bottle.

In response to: crazy_surfer101: wat do u mean by go dutch
scousedon: Share the expense
In all close countries, Dutch people are known to be miser. They for sure won't pay even half the bill. It is known that a Dutch family of 4 will order only 1 menu: one plate for each. On holidays abroad, they bring their own food and eat it in the car on a parking lot. In a hotel, I've seen people bringing their own eggs to be prepared for the next breakfast!
I think English should find another name for sharing the expense!
it would b nice if d guy offer 2 pay on d 1st date, as in my opinion it just shows he's a gentleman, hence this wouldnt b a question in my vietnamese culture as it is expected that guys r to pay not only for the 1st date but pretty much on all occasions...
RedLyonyss: So okay, I was just curious. I always assume on a first date that it will be dutch and reach for my wallet, but I have to admit I respect a guy more if he offers to pay. I guess I am a little old fashioned even though I do not mind paying at all. Later as dates progress I asume it will either be dutch or we will take turns grabbing the check.
What do you think?
PS: No I do not run out on a check but I have had a date suggest it, so I added that option in. I never found out what he did for a second date...
If he insist on paying..then I pay for the tip leaving it on the table.

I always offer to pay my half of the bill on a first date. Sometimes the guys will divide up the bills other times they insist on paying. Mind you the first day is always just coffee so not a big bill to cover anyways.

Tell us how Iraqis manage this. Is your 'wine and dine' scenerio common in Baghdad?
