On the contrary! True love is the absence of selfishness. One thinks only of the other person. Think of a mother's love for her child.... Two lovers in love go out of their way to please each other.

Well... it is true that you gain pleasure from the pleasure of the object/person you love. But that is not the whole picture of love. For instance, when that object/person's welfare is threatened, if you truly love it, you will be willing to sacrifice self-interest in favor of preserving that which you love. But Psychologically in such sense we are again selfish for our love bcoz we are thinking just for love, not for ourself.
Some days i was reading the article where the writer described that "Humans are essentially just civilized animals that can control their urges to varying extents. This being said, it can be assumed that each and every person has the innate trait of being selfish" For example: In our modern world if you make a great sacrifice or donation, you are recognized and given fame for it. Same like if you are loving someone, you expect that you should be loved in same and such manners.
