Unemployment is 15% in my area,i am one that is unemployed, have been for over 6 months...a lot of people are here.I know they say age doesn't matter..but in true it does. When i run across a app. that asks are you under 45 i know i am wasting my time.I fill it out any way.It seems to be easyer for men around here as most of the jobs that are listed are for men. There are just so few jobs, and there are thousands that apply for them.

Hey, I know it knocks your confidence - but DON'T give up!!!
I've been unemployed since 09/09...it was very rough in the beginning and I still experience some tight spots but I am lucky in that I can do some freelance work (such outsource secretarial work) and that my sister owns her own magazine that I assist with. It is harder to find employment (my own opinion) because companies can now be far choosier and pay far less than they used to for certain skill sets. I feel that I am luckier than most people who are unemployed as I do not have a mortgage to pay, car payments or children in the home. It is just me and although I have had to work out some payment arrangements, I feel that I am doing okay.

My company is in the downsize mode being bought out--cleared out 40 managers last week. I hear tell they will be offering an incentive package to clear some of us out in the next few weeks...don't know what that will look like....

I work on my on (rural development and certified seed productions for beans, corn and cereals) and the last 2 years were good to great in dispite of the world financial crash but this year work has been very slow although it looks like things are improving in my field. I might see a recovering until the begging of the next year.
At least I got time to chat at CS.
The unemployment rate for my city is close to 5 % but that is what the gov statistics.

So before you cry into your beer, just remember, there are others worse off than you or I.
What's your situation? Are you out of work? How long have you been looking? Take a pew, take a poll.
