If your talking about someone asking me in the street, then yes, if they had made a good impression. If you're on about someone online mailing me and asking if I would go to dinner with them in their first mail. Then no, I would want to get to know them first. Think someone asking you to meet in any circumstances online in the first mail, should be avoided. They are either desperate and after only one thing or they are a weirdo and you will probably disapear!!

they wanted to go out to nowhere? out of nowhere? i think you meant they just asked at the spur of the moment without any notice.. and my answer would probably be no.. my work makes it hard to be spontaneous.

Oh, come on, loosen up a bit. What better chance to get to know someone better than over dinner?? No harm in it! You'll find out before dessert if they're weirdos and can do a runner before the bill arrives.
Exactly. We've all heard of the timeless excuse "Excuse me, I have to go to the ladies..." Just don't tell him, by the "ladies" you meant your loo back home.

Oh yes, I was forgetting I could make my exit via the toilet window!!! Dinner is a great way to get to know someone and I think there is nothing wrong in meeting for dinner after a couple of mails. Just think it would be really weird if someone asked me out for dinner before even chatting a little. For they know I could be a weirdo too....But don’t answer that
Depends doesn't it. There are some lovely people on here and a few deranged ones that might make a 'Silence of the lambs' dinner seem a likely prospect.
