Blues63: No, not at all.
One could ask 'Do you have to be committed to be in a married relationship?'.
Funny, the chap I've been seeing and I were talking about this last night because we're going to my nephew's wedding on Saturday. When I was young I used to go to weddings and wish that someone loved ME enough to make those vows. These days I listen to the words and think the sentiments are great, but even though I think the bridal couple means it with all their heart and soul when they repeat those vows; I think that it is impractical and extremely unlikely that you can make a commitment for LIFE! Renewing the vows every 5 years may be a better option! Choosing to be with someone out of your own free will and not because you have vowed to stay with them, is a much more realistic option in my view.
