Well of course you should teach them how to fish! Then they will be learning how to provide for themselves.
If you give a man a fish, he only learns to TAKE and EXPECT to continue to be taken care of.

I believe that if you simply give food to a poor man,needy man it is the least you can do for him.Maybe he won't be hungry today.It's obvious he'll be hungry tomorrow.
If you teach someone to get food by themselves to earn money to get get food etc.Which means you can only help someone so much.But by giving someone the knowledge to "Fish" they've been given the ability to help themselves.

Agreed. I offer to teach typing and computer skills and the excuses are many - "I want to be an actress not a typist", "I don't want to work for a boss", etc. etc. To hell with them.------ This poll is Archived ------

Teaching how to do for themselves is much better than the handouts, but there are some that prefer the other way around...they never learn to take care of themselves..then when they have children,they pass on what they know....
I am glad I was taught how to take care of myself....I may not always agreed with the lessons, but they came in handy over the years
