On January 5, 2011, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu asked President Barack Obama to release Jonathan Pollard, an unusually public request by the Israeli leader on behalf of the former naval intelligence officer, who was sentenced to life in prison for spying for the Jewish state.
As a convicted spy who passed an enormous amount of classified information to Israel on that was then sold to the USSR, and got lots of American assets killed in the process, does he deserve clemency? Israel is an ally right? Forgive and forget?
What do you think?
Please, stick to the issue. Pollards release...if I read one more post anywhere on the net about the USS Liberty one way or the other I think I'm going to It has no bearing on Pollard.
Espionage, treason, etc.. If he's guilty he's guilty and deserves no clemency. Thanks to him and others like him, people die and wikileaks stays in business. Off with his head...

No, Israel Prime Minister Netanyahu should not even ask! This was tried during Clinton years as well. Thank God Bill did not grant clemency. Jonathan Pollard got off easy, he should have been executed. He was nothing more than a pawn, a willing pawn, and a very well paid pawn. He was consumed with the idea of anti-semitism and.....he saw himself as a victim. If Obama grants clemency just to pull off a little PR in these tuff times, his decision to do so will cause more ill feeling than good will. To grant Pollard, who is only 47, clemency would be considered very irresponsible by most of the" thinking" world.
