All the people that would have had to been involved in this if it were as truthers say, would have blabbed within days if not hours after the event.
Also, the news coverage was live and while it's possible to do some creative editing after the fact would be easy enough but live w/1000s of witnesses...
I see so we're moving on from the old "Hope and Change" campaign to a campaign of "Vision". Perhaps he's trying to tie in to MLK's "I have a Dream" speach. Actually, I think this isn't such a bad idea if President Obama's dream was a little more like MLK and less like Freddy Kruger - "Nightmare on Elm Street"
Actually I don't underestimate the power of the media or its subliminal presence. I'm just of the belief that most people are capable of understanding the difference between reality and fantasy. Certainly there are those that allow themselves to be swept away by the madness just as there are people who over indulge in other things.
Ironically, the program you provided a link to is nothing more or less than the very thing it defames. And while there is some accuracy which can be attributed to some or many individuals, the responsibility for what we see and believe rests with us. All too often some will point to an external factor for their own shortcomings.

Maybe you're right and her popularity is certainly higher than it was. I don't really care for her politics but I must be fair and say she's done a pretty good job as Sec State.
I think the American public just wnted to believe too much and he (Obama) said all the right things. Now that he has a record in which to be judged, he's going to be done in 2012. I'm actually quite shocked that Hillary hasn't quit her State Dept job and challenged him.

Yes it is but it's the old bait and switch routine. I wonder how many people even understand the tax laws, tables, etc... Yet they make judgements based on what a politician says. This is fear is why the US is so F'd up.
You make a good point about a flat tax on income. I would be more than happy with that though I think the 12% (example) rate is quite low. I'm also fine with a VAT as this would pretty much be a consumption tax. Both would, if nothing else, simplify the US Tax code.
I'm in the higher tax bracket and I know what I'm paying in income taxes. If President Obama or anyone else wants to correct the revenue problem, they need not have a millionaire tax. They could start by removing the corporate tax loop holes which both the Reps and Dems helped to establish and they could nix the Bush Tax cuts but if the goal is to simply tax millionaires more because they have it, that pretty much sucks. Especially when he's using Obama math to do so i.e. the example given during his speech was inaccurate at best.
There's nothing to debate as these are corporations and the subject matter in this thread are individuals. I actually agree that coorporations should pay their fair share. But the tax code and political shinanigans from both sides of the aisle have led to this.
I got this off the IRS website. I would think that even Obama's aids would know what the tax rates are.
Fact is, the big hoopla made concerning taxing the rich was designed to infuriate what Obama believes to be an ignorant lower and middle income population.
Now if you wish to play cut and paste, by all means do so. But this was direct form the from the IRS not an opinion piece. If Obama were serious, he'd simply remove the loop holes people use to get out of paying taxes which oddly enough includes Mr. Buffet.

These are from the IRS tax brackets on income. What's not included here are the other taxes levied on other income such as capital gains, interest, etc.
I think Obama is banking on the idea that the lower and middle income earners are jealous of the wealthy and will take this on Obama's word. Ofcourse he's right to a degree but that in and of itself is a slap in the face to those he's attempting to dupe.
People need to understand that they cannot accept comments from politicians at face value as that's what they're counting on.
